This Sunday we’ll be looking at the angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary of Christ’s birth. The virgin birth is an indispensable component of our Christian faith and the Christmas story. Come join us as we revel in this message together!
A Series of Unstoppable Events: Wisemen
IDENTITY 2.0: Disciple Makers
This Sunday we are be finishing our Identity 2.0 teaching series as we talk about what it means to be a disciple-maker. Our text will be 2 Timothy 2:1-7. Notice that a disciple-maker not only reproduces the life of Christ in another, but specifically in someone who will be faithful to continue the process!
IDENTITY 2.0: Kingdom Connectors
This Sunday we’ll be talking about how we can be used by God to connect people together relationally for God’s Kingdom purposes. Our text will be John 1:35-51. I encourage you to read it this week, paying close attention to the disciples that brought others to Jesus.
IDENTITY 2.0: Advocates
This Sunday is Freedom Sunday at CBC, where we will be lifting up the plight of those suffering injustice around the world, and how we can partner with International Justice Mission (IJM) to put a stop to this. Our texts will be Isaiah 58 & 61; and, we’ll be talking about what it means to advocate on behalf of the poor and oppressed.
IDENTITY 2.0: Intercessors
This week we’ll be talking about what it means to be intercessors, praying and advocating in our true identity! Our passage will be 1 Timothy 2:1-8. I encourage you to read it ahead of time.
IDENTITY 2.0: The Irrational Life
This week we begin a new series – but really we will continue to build on our IDENTITY in Christ.
As we study II Corinthians 5:12-21, we will examine what it means to be an Ambassador for Jesus, or as I call it: living “The Irrational Life!” Why does God use us to proclaim His message? Why does Jesus teach us to behave in a way that is anti-intuitive and against our basic human nature? What is my most important task in this life?
IDENTITY: Living Fearlessly
This Sunday, we'll be talking about how fear can keep us from living our True Identity. Our text will be 2 Timothy 1:1-14. I invite you to read it ahead of time this week. Ask God to give you insights into how it might apply to your life.
IDENTITY: Confession and Repentance
This Sunday we’ll be talking about what the Bible says about Confession and Repentance. Our passages will be 1 John 1:5-10 and Mark 1:9-15. I encourage you to spend some time in these texts this week in preparation for our time together.
Repentance literally means “a new way of thinking.” I’ve been a Christian now for 47 years; and, to say that my new understanding of repentance has been a game-changer for me is an understatement! I’m convinced that you’ll find this discovery to be both fascinating and extremely practical as well.
IDENTITY: Biblical Forgiveness
This Sunday we’ll be looking at the life of Joseph in Genesis as we talk about Biblical Forgiveness. This is week 4 in our Identity teaching series.
Also, come join us at CBC on Tuesday nights at 7 pm if you’re not in a small group but would like to participate in our midweek discussion.
IDENTITY: Kingdom Identity
This Sunday we’ll be talking about our Kingdom Identity, our identity as Christ followers. Many of us, at one time or another in our lives, have lived in a false identity; and these false identities not only keep us from growing and maturing, but they also lack the power to sustain us.
Our passage this week will be Philippians 3:1-21. I encourage you to look at it ahead of time and observe the many ways in which the Apostle Paul used to derive his identity, in contrast with the new ways that He is being shaped.
IDENTITY: Hearing from God
This Sunday we'll be learning how to Hear From God as we look at 1 Samuel 3:1-21, in our second week of a new teaching series titled, "Identity."
In our last series on the Holy Spirit we discussed how we frequently have no problem believing that Satan is actively involved in speaking to, and influencing, people today, but we're often skeptical whether God interacts and intervenes. We acknowledge the presence of demonic communication in the world, but sometimes fail to give God credit for His activity and presence in everyday life.
